Individual Therapy
Individual psychotherapy sessions are you-centered and ongoing: they are your sessions to discuss issues that you would like to further explore. My theoretical approach is eclectic and will be determined based on your individualized treatment needs/goals.
Family Therapy
Family therapy generally involves a whole family, or several family members, all meeting together with the therapist. During our first few sessions, I will establish safety, boundaries, rapport, and trust by reviewing family history and determining areas that would like to be further explored. The following topics are generally discussed during the course of family therapy: family dynamics & roles, effective communication, boundaries, consequences for boundary violations, contracting, distorted thinking patterns, & programs of mutual support.
Group Therapy
Explore your challenges, feelings, ideas, and reactions with others in a safe group environment. Group therapy is an essential part of any recovery plan. Christopher currently runs 3 weekly psychotherapy groups: 1) Men in long-term sexual recovery Tuesday nights; 2) Men in long-term sexual recovery Wednesday nights; and 3) Men in long-term recovery from addiction & trauma - Friday Hybrid Group - TheraFit + process group. "Group psychotherapy is a special form of therapy in which a small number of people, usually 5-10, meet together under the guidance of a professionally trained therapist. In a typical session, which lasts about 75-90 minutes, members work to express their own problems, feelings, ideas and reactions as freely and honestly as possible. Such exploration is useful because it provides opportunities to learn with and from other people, to understand one’s own patterns of thought and behavior and those of others, and to perceive how group members react to one another. Members learn not only to understand their own issues but also become 'therapeutic helpers' for other members" (AGPS- Austin).
